Most Pakistani universities set a minimum attendance percentage — commonly 75% — below which a student is barred from sitting final exams regardless of academic performance, which makes tracking exactly how many more classes can be safely skipped, or must be attended, a genuinely high-stakes calculation rather than a casual one.
Why the math gets trickier as the semester progresses
Attendance percentage is classes attended divided by classes held so far — simple early in a semester, but the number of classes still remaining to be held shrinks as the term goes on, which changes how much room there actually is to recover from a low percentage. A student sitting at a low percentage with many classes still remaining has real room to pull the average back up by attending consistently from that point forward; the same low percentage with only a handful of classes left has much less room to recover, since there simply aren't enough remaining classes to move the average by much. This calculator answers both directions of the question — how many more classes can be missed while staying above the required threshold, and how many consecutive classes must now be attended to reach it — since the answer to each depends specifically on how many classes remain in the term, not just the current percentage alone.
A worked example
Two students with the identical current attendance percentage face very different situations if one is in week 3 of a 16-week semester and the other is in week 14 — the week-3 student has many remaining classes to average across and real flexibility, while the week-14 student has very few classes left and correspondingly little margin for further absences, even though their percentage right now looks identical.

Common mistakes
Students often check their attendance percentage once early in a term and don't recalculate it as the term progresses, missing the point at which their remaining margin for absences shrinks significantly — attendance percentage should be recalculated periodically through the semester, not assumed to stay in a comfortable range just because it started that way.
