Pakistan's University Admission Calendar: What Happens and When
Pakistan's university admission season follows a broadly predictable annual rhythm, driven by the board exam calendar. Exact dates shift year to year and by institution, but the sequence below holds fairly consistently.
May–June: Board results and early registrations
Matric results are typically announced first, in the summer, and Intermediate (FSc/HSSC) Part-II results generally follow a few weeks to a couple of months later. Several universities open admission applications before the final FSc result is out, accepting a provisional or Part-I-only application that gets finalized once your complete result is available — check each university's specific policy rather than assuming a uniform rule.
June–August: Entry tests
Most major entry tests — NET, ECAT, MDCAT, and individual university tests — cluster in this window, sometimes with multiple sessions per test to accommodate scheduling conflicts between institutions. It's common for a strong candidate to sit three or four different entry tests across June through August, since formulas and eligibility differ enough between universities that hedging your options is standard practice.
August–September: Merit lists and admission rounds
Once results and test scores are finalized, universities publish merit lists — often in successive rounds as seats vacate through non-confirmation, since higher-ranked candidates who get admitted elsewhere free up spots further down the list. September–October: Semester start and late admissions
Most universities begin their academic year in this window. A number of institutions run late/second-shift admission cycles for seats that remain unfilled after the primary rounds close, which can be a genuine opportunity if your first-choice results didn't go as planned.

This calendar is a general guide, not a substitute for checking your target university's own admissions page — deadlines for application submission, document verification, and fee payment are strict and institution-specific, and missing one by even a day can mean losing your seat regardless of how strong your aggregate is.
